Course Description:
Grades: 11, 12 1 Semester: 1/2 Credit Prerequisite: Foods I
This one-semester course instructs students in advanced food preparation methods, and techniques allowing those completing the class to be able to prepare more complex recipes on their own, as well as be prepared to work in a food preparation position. Topics covered include, but are not limited to, menu planning using healthy food choices, food purchasing, meats, poultry and seafood preparation, making simple candies, selecting and preparing fruits and vegetables, casseroles and soups, and planning, organizing and presenting a social event. Students are required to follow standard food safety and sanitation guidelines.
